Colombo, Oct 16: A Sri Lankan party on Tuesday disfavoured any arms supply by India to the island country, saying it can be a "dangerous development". "The stepped up arms to Sri Lanka will only escalate the war with LTTE," Mano Ganesan, the leader of the Western Province People's Front (WPPF), said commenting on the news reports that New Delhi is considering enhanced arms supply to Colombo.
WPPF is an ally of the main opposition UNP party headed by former Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe.
I feel sad and I am also ashamed of the reported development because being a person of Indian origin I consider India as my father and Sri Lanka as my mother. The stepped up arms to Sri Lanka will only escalate the war with LTTE," Ganesan said.
