Sri Lanka: SLAF kfir jets bomb civilian settlements in Vanni again within 16 hours

Within a span of less than 24 hours Kfir jets of Sri Lankan Air Force (SLAF) made fresh aerial attack on civilian settlements in Vanni, but could not inflict casualties although two jets dropped eight bombs in two sorties. People in Muththuaiyankaddu in Vanni said the Kfir fighter jets made the attack between 7:00 a.m. and 7:20 a.m.

They said none was injured in the attack although the bombs fell close to civilian settlements and exploded.

Panic-stricken people rushed to safer places seeing the presence of jets in the air. People are still in fear that they may be attacked again.

Life came to a halt after the incident as presence of students in the schools was very poor and many commercial establishments and shops were kept closed, sources said.

Earlier, kfir jets of SLAF bombed on a civilian settlement in Puthukudiyiruppu in the Mullaitivu district around 2 p.m. on Tuesday leaving five civilians including three children injured.

Of the injured, three belong to same family.

The aerial bombing also left many houses damaged and two of them completely destroyed.

The names of injured persons are: R. Sukirtha, 8, K. Santhiravathanan, 6, Suresh, 27, his wife Vinothini, 25 and their daughter Meena, 3.
