The Ceasefire Monitors claimed that abductions and assassinations continued in the eastern region during the last week starting from 15, while accusing all the abduction had been carried out by the Karuna faction or the TMVP in the region.
In its latest weekly report from 15 to 21 of this month, the SLMM said that six killings and eight abductions had reportedly taken place, including police reports and complaints raised directly with the SLMM in the eastern region during that period.
“The Karuna group was the reported perpetrator in all of the abduction cases. Among the abductees was a child of 16,” it said. The statement also said that an increase in military operations in the northern region was reported during the week, with clashes being reported along the Forward Defence Line (FDL) south of Wanni.
