Sri Lanka: CJ orders to relocate persons in protective custody in Jaffna

Chief Justice Sarath N. Silva directed authorities concerned to shifted the women and children from Canaan Rehabilitation Centre in Irupaalai to Rehabilitation Centre in Kurunakar, and the men detained in Jaffna Prisons in protective custody to the Rehabilitation Centre in Kaarainakar.
Mr. Silva, who officially opened the new Judicial Complex in Jaffna on Wednesday, issued the directive after holding talks with Jaffna Government Agent (GA), legal sources in Jaffna said.
The Kurunakar building, a private guest-house which was used as Jaffna High Courts before being shifted to the recently opened Judicial Complex, will again be used as a Rehabilitation Centre.
Jaffna Prison officials are making arrangements to shift the men with the help of the police, according to sources in Jaffna.
