Sri Lankan Army Spokesman, Udaya Nanayakkara, on Friday categorically denied that military personnel paraded the naked bodies of LTTE fighters in Anuradhapura and said the pictures of naked bodies published in newspapers were faked.
Referring to media reports, the Brigadier said they took preparations on the following day to transport the bodies of the attackers to the Anuradhapura hospital and removed the clothes worn by the LTTE cadres as most were fixed to suicide jackets, which were dangerous. “We covered the bodies with black polythene perfectly and transported them in tractor trailers to the hospital. The pictures published in newspapers were ‘dubbed’,” Brigadier Nanayakkara claimed. But interrupting him immediately, Minister Keheliya Rambukwella said although bodies were covered properly with polythene, in one of the trailers the bodies were exposed and appeared naked because of some mistakes in the process covering those before sending to the hospital. The Minister also said President Mahinda Rajapakse had ordered to investigate the matter. Set as favorite Bookmark Comments (4)

SLA now overwhelmingly is trying cover up their despicable act as they have lost every bit of human decency of their of war ethics. Earlier they say the photos are doctored, now they say they are faked. Whatever happened happened whilst the bodies were in their custody. Even as they deny their wrong doings, the Minister Rambukwella interrupts to say this may have occurred because of some mistakes in the process of covering those before sending to the hospital. Lies and more lies. Who is he trying to fool? The more the lies, the more despicable acts come to light. Whatever had happened, the fact is the rebels fought the enemy in its own cave had achieved what they set out for and died as valiant soldiers. This is without any doubt a heroic act. They deserve praise for their bravery and most of all a decent heroesâ?? burial. And we salute them. May God bless their souls. On the contrary, the behaviour of displaying naked bodies in public shows the subhuman immoral behaviour of those who indulged in such despicable act which is against any norms or standards of human decency. |
| The state TV Roopavahini also showed the naked photos in a majestic way. Does that mean state TV is also faking videos now? |
| How can cannibals know about "Geneva Convention"? Those who write in one of the Sinhala Forums are not from the villages but from cities. If one reads their comments, you get sick!!! Gosh!!! Such a culture! Sinhala Women gleefully looking at the naked DEAD bodies of men!!! Never in any other parts of the world you could witness this nauseating behaviour of Sinhala people! |
