Sri Lanka: Entry point to LTTE Wanni region to be opened six days a week ,ICRC

ICRC has decided to keep the Omanthai entry and exit point open to the LTTE administered Wanni region, six days a week on the request of the government and the LTTE. ICRC said in a report issued on Friday The checkpoint was earlier opened only for five days a week. It will be open from 9 AM to 5 PM from Saturday.
Meanwhile the government and the LTTE have also agreed to allow transporting 350 metric tons of fertilizer into Wanni and it is to be conducted only on Saturdays. The farmers are beginning cultivation in the main ‘maha’ season with the northeastern monsoon. The ICRC report said.
