Jaffna Hospital is going to face a serious crisis as blood preserved in the blood bank of the hospital is running out fast. The chief officer of the hospital’s blood bank Dr. Sivasankar has called upon the people to donate blood immediately for saving lives of patients and other injured persons.

He said the situation will take a serious turn soon as all groups of blood are running out in the bank fast.

He said lives of several hundred patients will be at risk if blood was not donated by people very soon.

Dr. Sivasankar also called upon the relatives and friends of patients in the hospital to donate blood voluntarily.

Hospital sources said the ICRC and other agencies too are not collecting blood for the hospital although these agencies do it in other parts of the world.
