JVP has launched a weeklong countrywide series of agitations that has begun on Thursday protesting rise in the cost of living. The party providing conditional support to the government has urged the government to take pragmatic steps immediately for bringing down cost of living and for curbing corruption.
Expressing concern over the increasing rate of inflation, JVP MP Anura Kumara Dissanayake said that mass scale money printing by the government has increased the inflation up to 20 per cent.
He said that the protest campaign will be held in all major towns across the country from November 1 to 6 against government’s wrong economic policies and rampant corruption.
