United National Party parliamentarian Dr. Jayalath Jayawardane said some quarters are trying to damage him through branding him as staunch supporter of the LTTE. Speaking to journalists at the UNP party office on Wednesday he said some are trying to brand him as LTTE supporter and they are saying that he stayed at the residence of Chelliah Chandran, an LTTE, in Geneva during his recent visit to Switzerland.
He said further that he did not stay at Chandran’s home but stayed at Jeevan Gunathilake’s residence in Geneva.
He said he went to Geneva to take part in the Inter-Parliamentary Union session where over 100 parliamentary delegations took part.
He said he did not talk about the killing of former foreign minister Lakshman Kadirgamar but raised the issue of killings of TNA parliamentarians and journalists as TNA was not present in the session in Geneva.
