Sri Lanka Minister of Construction and Engineering Services Rajitha Senarathna on Thursday said that the main opposition United National Party (UNP) will lose the post of Opposition Leader in Parliament as six to eight UNP MPs are set to join the government after the budget.
Briefing newsmen Senarathna, who is a leader of the UNP dissident Democratic Group that joined the government and assumed portfolios, said the process of joining of UNP MPs is underway.
UNP currently has 43 seats in Sri Lanka parliament while JVP has 38 seats.
Ruling party sources indicated that all UNP MPs are likely to given portfolios after their joining, making the size of cabinet further bigger.
