Sri Lanka: 6 members of family seek protection from HRC: Young driver disappeared in Jaffna

Six members of a family on Friday surrendered at the office of the Jaffna Human Rights Commission after receiving threat from Sri Lanka Army (SLA) and SLA-backed paramilitaries, civil sources in Jaffna said. The six family members from Kalveal area in Chaavakachcheri of Thenmaraadchy district include: a family man, 37, his wife, 27, and their four children, all girls ages between 2 and 10.
The family man in his complaint stated that he received repeated death threats and threats of abduction from the SLA soldiers and paramilitary cadres.
He said he was called to report at the Chaavakachcheari SLA camp several times and was cautioned every time.
Meanwhile, an youth has been reported disappeared in Jaffna since Wednesday.
The youth, Ganeshan Suresh, 22, a driver by profession, is a resident of Alaveddi in Jaffna.
