NEW DELHI: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Karunanidhi in an open display of his pro- Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) leanings penned a poem in memory of the slain Tamil Tiger political wing leader S P Thamilselvan. “You had the strength of meeting the opposition with a smiling face. You had the strength of the Himalayas at a very young age and was moulded by Balasingam (LTTE's late political ideologue). Selva where have you gone?” the poem reads in memory of the slain guerrilla.

Now this could prove to be an embarrassment for the Congress, the DMK being an ally of the party at the Centre.

Thamilselvan was killed along with five other rebel leaders by Sri Lankan Air Force bombing raid early on Friday.

Meanwhile, Tamil Tigers' elusive supreme V Prabhakaran appointed P Nadesan, who had been a delegate to earlier peace talks between the rebels and the government, as the new political head of the outfit.
