Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) has arrested around a hundred Tamil fishermen from Tamil Nadu on Friday evening in Tamil waters. Their trawlers were also taken into custody by the Sri Lankan forces. Thousands of Tamil fishermen in Rameshwaram and Naakapaddinam went on strike on Saturday demanding that the Indian government takes immediate action to release the Tamil fishermen. The arrests came on the day several prominent Tamils from Tamil Nadu including the state's Chief Minister sent their condolences to the slain Political Head of Tamil Eelam Brig. SP Tamilselvan.

well if the so called fishermen werent fishing in sri lankan territory they would not have been arrested. it also helps if the fishermen were not smuggling contraband and weapons to the ltte but that is another story...
