UN Commissioner of Human Rights, Ms. Louise Arbour, is likely to reprimand Sri Lanka and recommend stern action against the island country by UNO in her report that she will submit on her Sri Lanka visit on December 10, sources said.

Sources indicate that Ms. Arbour will strongly recommend stern action against Sri Lanka by UNO for gross human rights violations, particularly that of minority Tamil community.

Earlier, Ms. Arbour who was in Sri Lanka from October 10 gave her opinion in favour of setting up a UNO Human Rights office in Sri Lanka.

But due to strong opposition from Sri Lankan government and some of its political allies she could not advance much on this issue.
