Sri Lanka: LTTE repulses SLA attempt to enter through the defense lines in Muhamalai

The LTTE foiled an attempt of Sri Lankan army to enter through the forward defense lines in Muhamalai in northern Sri Lanka around 6 a.m. on Sunday. Local sources said a fierce clash between both parties erupted when the Tigers put up stiff resistance.
The battle continued for hours until the Sri Lankan armed forces were compelled to retreat from the lines.
SLA sources said one soldier was killed while another sustained injuries in the fighting.
Sri Lankan army, however, claimed they killed four LTTE fighters what the LTTE rejected, saying there was no casualties on their side.
LTTE sources said Liberation Tigers captured some arms and ammunition of the Sri Lankan army what they left behind at the time of fleeing.
