Large number of Sri Lanka Army troops were deployed around the Jaffna university premises on Monday to intimidate and disturb the undergraduates who were paying homage to the late Brig. Tamilselvan.
Massive amount of Sri Lankan troops were deployed around the Jaffna University premises on Monday morning in an attempt to disturb undergraduates paying homage to Brig. S. P. Tamilselvan. The SL army personnel also removed the black flags hoisted as a sign of mourning along streets in the peninsula, and harassed people living in houses close to the places where the black flags were hung. The SLA troops deployed around Jaffna University since Monday early morning subjected the undergraduates to intensive checking before they entered the campus. However, the undergraduates conducted events in the campus paying homage to Brig. S.P. Tamilselvan and the five LTTE cadres who were killed along with him. Set as favorite Bookmark Comments (1)

| Again and again the behaviour of Sri Lankan government and its Army troops leaves much to be desired. The army deploys their troops around the University premises in an attempt to intimidate and disturb undergraduates paying homage to Tamilselvan, who is very dear to them. Intimation and subjecting the undergraduates to intensive checking before entering the campus or removing the black flags hoisted as a sign of mourning along streets in the peninsula, and harassing the people living close by are encroachment of the fundamental rights of the citizens of the country. The political head of the rebels is a Tamil and in their view is very close and dear to them. And, by virtue of being fellow human beings, it is the right of any one whether they are undergraduates or ordinary man on the street to pay homage to their loved one who is dead. Obviously, the Sri Lankan army troops donâ??t have any form of human decency due to their low mentality and sick mindset. |
