Sri Lanka: Thousands gather to pay tributes to Brig. S.P. Tamilselvan in Canada and UK

Tens of thousands of Tamil Canadians have gathered to pay tributes to their beloved political leader Brig. S.P. Tamilselvan during an event at an open air memorial service. Late Brig. Tamilselvan’s mother and siblings took part in the memorial service. Canadian liberal party members and dignitaries attended the gathering. Meanwhile, in UK the late “Voice of the Nation” Anton Balasingam’s wife Adel Balasingam took part in the memorial event in which over ten thousand Tamils gathered to pay their homage to Brig. S.P. Tamilselvan.

Tens of thousands Tamil Canadians gathered in a pouring rain and a freezing temperature at Markham Fair Ground, Markham in an open air memorial services for Brigadier S.P Tamilselvan. Many Canadian Federal Parliament members also took part in the memorial services along with elderly mothers, fathers, sons, daughters and grand children from the Canadian Tamil community.

Tamil people have lined up and paid floral tributes to their political leader in a specially constructed shrine where portraits of the S.P. Tamilselvan and all other five officials were kept. Brig. S.P. Tamilselvan’s mother Paramu Visaaladchchi and siblings took part in the event. She lit the sacrificial lamp and garlanded the portrait of Brig. Tamilselvan. Two brothers and one sister of late Brig. Tamilselvan paid floral tributes to their brother. Borys Wrzesnewskyj, Etobicoke Centre, Liberal Party Member of Parliament who spoke at the memorial service condemned the assassination of S.P. Tamilselvan and said Sri Lanka sunk to the lowest level and assassinating a peace negotiator has far reaching consequences for Sri Lanka.

Over ten thousand Tamils gathered to pay their homage to their political leader in the memorial event in UK Harrow Lesser Centre Hall. The late “Voice of the Nation” Anton Balasingam’s wife Adel Ann took part in the event and offered floral tributes to Brig. S.P. Tamilselvan.
