Sri Lanka: Muslim woman killed, 2-year old son injured in grenade attack in Vaazhaichcheanai

A Muslim woman was killed and her 2-year old son was seriously injured in a grenade attack by armed men around 4.30 a.m. on Sunday at Maavadichcheanai in Vaazhaichcheanai, in Batticaloa district.
Vaazhzichecheanai Police said a group of unidentified armed men attacked a house at Kankaaniyar Veethi at Maavadichcheanai with hand grenade and gunfire that left housewife Musthapa Rasimiya, 26, killed on the spot and her 2-year old son Mohamed Amar critically injured.
The mother and son were asleep in their house at the time of attack.
The police said they have been able to identify some of the attackers.
The victim's body was sent to Vaazhaichcheanai hospital for post mortem examinations.
