Western Province UNP Pradaeshiya Sabha member, Duminda Silva, has crossed over to the ruling Sri Lanka Freedom Party. He is the brother of recently banned Asian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) Media Network’s Managing Director, Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, Mr. Silva said his crossing over is not related to cancellation of ABC license.
It is worth mentioning here that the government two weeks back shutdown the ABC media networks accusing it of airing misleading and concocted information over an incident in Tissamaharama.
The ABC networks owned five radio stations including Hiru FM and Sun FM.
However, there are speculations that Silva crossed over to the government side following an assurance that ban on ABC would be lifted if he joined government.
