Friday, 23 November 2007

Two Tamil civilians have been reported missing at Kanniyaa in Trincomalee since Monday, according to complaints lodged with Uppuveli Police. The persons who have gone missing are: Rajkumar, 21, of Koanesapuri and Vaviparan, 41, of Chaampaltheevu.

Relatives of the missing persons in their complaints said on Monday they left their home to cut firewood in Wilgam Vihare jungle located along Trincomalee-Anuradhapura road, about 10 km off north of east port city.

But none of them returned home.

Later, their female relatives went to the jungle in search of them and they saw cart and bulls only there but could not trace Rajkumar and Vaviparan.

The incident of their disappearance has also been reported to Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission (SLMM) in Trincomalee.
