The government of Sri Lanka had supported Pakistan's dismissal from the Commonwealth, despite claims of "strong objection". Pakistan's suspension from the colonial club was sanctioned by its nine members Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group (CMAG). For the CMAG to sanction an action, all nine members have to come to a unanimous agreement. Therefore, logic has it, Sri Lanka which is a member of the CMAG must have also voted in favour of Pakistan's suspension for it to have taken effect. When contacted by SiberNews, various government departments said that they will look into the Sri Lankan vote at the CMAG meeting. Meanwhile, various sections of Sri Lankan media are speculating that the Foreign Minister Rohitha Bogollagama had voted in favour of the suspension, even though official decision of the Cabinet and President was to oppose action against Pakistan. Sri Lanka is a beneficiary of several 'soft loans' and military hardware from Pakistan. Set as favorite Bookmark Comments (1)

| Using the same language as Marvan Attapattu, the Government of Sri Lanka too is a set of ""muppets headed by a joker." |
