Congress supporters in Erode in Indian state Tamil Nadu on Sunday demonstrated against an effigy of Union Minister of State for Textiles E.V.K.S. Elangovan on a lamp post for his anti-Tamil stand. Erode Congress district president R.M. Palanisamy led the demonstration. Protesters carried placards that read, ““Elangovan is an anti-Tamilian.”
The Minister had criticised the LTTE organisation and its supporters at a meeting in Gobichettipalayam on Saturday.
Mr. Palanisamy said pro-LTTE banners and posters had come up in many places in the district.
Because of demonstration, traffic was disrupted for more than half an hour near the Erode central bus stand, sources said.
