The Sri Lankan defense ministry has instructed all armed forces land, sea and air to stay alert for foiling the attacks carried out by the LTTE on or after the Heroes Day celebrations. The LTTE and the Tamils in Eelam and around the world commemorate the dead fallen heroes as a Great Heroes Week. The celebrations will conclude with the speech of LTTE supremo V. Pirapaharan in the evening on November 27 what he will deliver from any undisclosed location.
Ahead of the Heroes Day celebrations, few days back the Sri Lankan defense ministry instructed all its armed forces to remain alert about the possible attacks by the LTTE.
The armed forces have deployed soldiers in land and seas and air surveillance has been increased to monitor the activities of the LTTE.
The armed forces said they will be able to foil any attack of the Tamil Tigers as they are totally prepared to face the enemy in any front.
The security in Colombo has been stepped up as never before with thousands of armed men deployed in Colombo and its suburbs. Passengers are undergoing thorough checking.
It is worth noting that the Sri Lankan president left Colombo on an official visit to Iran when the LTTE commemorates their dead heroes.
It is widely believed that the Sri Lankan government leaders have a practice to stay abroad during the Heroes Day in fear that they may be targeted by the LTTE.
