The LTTE cadres and the Tamils around the world celebrated the 53rd birthday of the LTTE supremo Velupillai Pirapaharan today (November 26). On this occasion, the Diaspora Tamils are sending their greetings through local Tamil televisions and Tamil radios while the locals in Eelam send their messages through Voice of Tigers radio and other media outlets functioning in Eelam. The Tamil Tiger supremo began his military campaign at his early age in the 1970s to fight the discriminatory Sinhala hegemony governments that enacted laws against Tamils and resorted to undemocratic means and violence to suppress the peaceful campaigns of the Tamils for realization of their just demands.

Though his able leadership, Velupillai Pirapaharan has successfully turned the LTTE, which mainly represent the Tamils, into a powerful military organization although some argue that the LTTE is still a group of some 4,000 cadres.

These anti-LTTE elements say that the LTTE has around 4,000 cadres since early 1980s but the LTTE has fielded almost 20,000 cadres to fight against the enemies up to date.

The LTTE leader’s achievements are great in terms of politics, military and diplomacy and LTTE is a military organization well equipped with all three armed forces--air, sea and land.

It is the only liberation organization that has aircrafts with air divers and missiles. All these have been achieved in the era of the LTTE leader who turns 53 today (Monday).
