Sri Lanka’s Foreign Minister, Rohitha Bogollagama, in Parliament on Tuesday said steps have been taken to bring goods by UNICEF into the country through ‘Red Channel’. He was replying to a question put by JVP Parliamentarian Wimal Weerawansa that what steps would be taken regarding the stock of food brought by UNICEF to be sent to tiger terrorists and UNICEF’s alleged support for Tamil Tigers violating sovereignty of the country.

Goods brought down to Sri Lanka through ‘Green Channel’ are not rigorously inspected. Goods that come for diplomatic missions and their staffs come through this channel.

However, goods that come through ‘Red Channel’ are subjected to rigorous inspection.

Minister Bogollagama said the transfer of goods would be effective if the UNICEF fails to convince the government of its credibility.

Even UNICEF thinks tigers are right and they are supporting them. This Sinhalese government thinks they can kill and makes tamils slaves.
