Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has voiced outrage at today’s twin suicide attacks in the Sri Lankan capital, which have killed or wounded dozens of people, and yesterday’s aerial assault on a United Nations aid office in the far north of the troubled country.
In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Mr. Ban condemned the attacks in Colombo, which occurred outside the Ministry of Social Services building and in the Nugegoda district, and offered his condolences to the families and friends of the victims. Media reports state that at least 16 people were killed in the Nugegoda blast and 37 others were injured, while one person was killed and two others hurt in the earlier bombing at the ministry building. The statement from Mr. Ban’s spokesperson noted that he was also concerned about yesterday’s aerial attack in the town of Kilinochchi in which the office of the UN World Food Programme (WFP) was damaged. “The Secretary-General appeals for an end to the destructive spiral of violence in Sri Lanka and calls on the parties to the conflict [Government forces and the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE)] to return to the peace process while making every effort to ensure the protection of civilians,” the statement said. Mr. Ban "condemned" the attacks in Colombo ...he was also "concerned" about yesterday?s aerial attack in the town of Kilinochchi in which the office of the UN World Food Program (WFP) was damaged. First of all the bomb blasts are not suicidal, but planned attacks by Sinhala Government to stop the growing International Support after the LTTE's Leader's speech and to discredit the Tamils. The Tigers are not going to such foolish acts for they have evolved into crack fighting outfit. As late Brig. Thamilchelvan stated earlier that they will attack only the Military and economical Targets, The LTTE will not indulge themselves in such foolish acts. These barbaric acts of Government, killing their own are for the selfish purpose of tarnishing the image of the Tigers. This definitely will backfire on them. Secondly, on Mr. Ban's view the loss of Tamils' lives is just a concern and the loss of Sinhala lives is to be condemned. Hypocrisy at its top!!! |
| Where were you all these days when we lost 5000 Tamils by the terrorist state *anki moon. |
|
U.S. bombing killed 17 civilians in east Afghanistan, gov. says Asian Political News, July 5, 2005 Where was Moon? Why didn't he condemn the US at that time? So many Tamil civilians died during the Srilankan Terrrorist Government and where was he? He is the tail of Bush Admin. |
