Sri Lanka: SLAF bombs Jeyanthinagar civilian settlements, destroys dwelling houses

Three Kfir jets of Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) on Wednesday afternoon indiscriminately dropped bombs on civilian settlements near Jeyanthinagar, a suburb of Kilinochchi, sources said. Local people said that Kfir jets dropped about 15 bombs during 20-munite attack beginning at 12.25 p.m. razed many dwelling houses to the ground.
The aerial attack also caused damage to Gandhi Children Home, where children orphaned by the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) offensives have been sheltered, and Aroganam Children’s home maintained by Christian missionaries.
Panic-stricken students of Kilinochchi Hindu College located 200 metres from the location of the air attack hurriedly took shelter in bunkers, school officials said.
Details of damage or injuries were not available.
Movement of vehicles on the main road leading from Karadippoakku, Kilinochchi towards Uruththirapuram were suspended during the attack, local sources said.
