Sri Lanka: Valuing the words of those who do not value our lives

How much value should Tamils attach to the words of those, be it countries or international institutions, which do not attach any value whatsoever to our lives? My comments are in relation to the spate of bomb attacks that have left more the forty people this week. Attacks one and two were carried out on Tamil civilians by the Sri Lankan military. Around 20 people, many of them school girls, were killed.

Attacks three and four were carried out on Sinhalese civilians and allied paramilitaries. Around 20 people were again killed.

Latest press releases by the European Union and the United Nations condemn the attacks on Sinhalese as "terrorist attacks" and warn that "these callous attacks can have no political justification".

Meanwhile, there was no mention of the Tamil civilians, including the school girls, who were killed a day earlier by the Sri Lankan military.

In my opinion, these statements only go to show that the countries and institutions concerned have no regard for the lives of Tamils. A serious question that stands before us today is that: should we have any regard for the words of these countries and institutions?

BE HONEST. LTTE ALSO has no regard for the lives of many many Tamils WHOM THEY KILLED fir not poltically alligning with it. By choice the LTTE failed to earn International respect and thereby letting down the Tamils.

Exactly right. If one fails to see it once, it is an oversight. Twice may mean they their senses are challenged. Only wanting to see waht they want means; arrogance, prejudice and lack of respect for the persons, in this case the Tamils. What value are the words uttered by such people (countries) to the oppressed?
