People of Vanni paid their last respects to two of the three media personnel of Voice of Tigers (VoT) who were killed in the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) bombing on the radio station in Kilinochchi on Tuesday. People, both male and female, of all ages paid respects to the remains of Ms. Iasaivili Chempiyan and M. Suresh Limbio whose mortal remains were kept at Kilinochchi Cultural Hall at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday.
Sources in Kilinochchi said Isaivili Chempiayan has left behind three children while Suresh Limbio, one child.
Their spouses lit the lamps of reverence paying their last respects while Kilinochchi Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) political head, Sivanath, presided the event.
Other than parents of the killed media personnel, hundreds of people including LTTE members, journalists, students, human rights activists and representatives of several organizations flocked to the hall and paid their last respect to the two slain media workers.
Reporters without Borders (RSF) has strongly condemned the attack on VoT and termed it as a "war crime."
