Norwegian aid agency FORUT has suspended all its work in the Vanni mainland following a Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) attack on its head offices in Kilinochchi. The charity's offices were bombed on Wednesday. UN's World Food Programme (WFP) offices were also bombed on the same day.
A FORUT news release said that the aid agency can not continue to operate under the current threat level. The SLAF could not guarantee that the agency's offices would not be bombed again in the future, informed sources said.
Meanwhile, WFP has decided to continue to operate in the Vanni, despite threats of bomb attacks, SiberNews understands.
