The funeral of slain EPDP gunman Steven Peiris took place in Colombo on Friday. The paramilitary group's leader Douglas Devananda was amongst a handful of people who were allowed into the highly guarded premises. Of note was the fact that the gunman's body was not covered in the traditional Sinhala lion flag but with the green and yellow flag of the Eelam Peoples Democratic Party.
Steven Peiris was not even of Eelam origin. He was a Malayaali who came to Sri Lanka on intelligence gathering operations during the IPKF days. He lodged in Nuwaraliya, mingling with the Tamils of Indian origin settled there in large numbers. Steven Peiris was the former handler of Devananda and his EPDP gang while they were under the full auspicious of a foreign intelligence service. He is a well known to web scribes Col Hariharan and B Ramanan. Set as favorite Bookmark Comments (1)

| A clear message as one was ever needed; "a Tamil, even one that is your slave in NOT a Sri Lankan". As long as one is prepared to be the door mat, the other will wipe the dirt off his shoe on you. |
