Fascism had no limits. Sri-Lanka stood as an example to this axiom-unlimited authoritarianism. At the moment the International Community seemed to have given its authority carte blanche to MR. He had also been given a blank cheque by the Muslim fundamentalist Iran to go on a fascist rampage on the ethnic minority Tamils to subjugate them. Nazi MR would now go for the Dravidian kill with full swing. On Tuesday November 27, 2007, the world heard the sad news of seven Tamil school girls, riding in a Hiace van being killed on the spot in Wanni at Iyangkea'ni on Kokkaavil - Thu'nukkaay road in a Claymore attack carried out by the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) Deep Penetration Unit (DPU). The Sinhalese community or the politicians never cared to express sympathy to the innocent Tamil school children who were mercilessly killed by its wretched army. As press freedom had been strangled in the North and East the misfortune of the school children was kept away from the common sinhala masses by the prevailing press gag. There was no talk of compensation either for the poor Tamils murdered by the DPU. This refusal was in spite of a Tamil Member of Parliament, Mr Sivagilingam requesting the house to pay compensation for the Tamil victims of terror on Friday 30 November 2007. Those tamils described as ‘Para Demilo’ meaning pariah Tamils by MR brother Basil Rajapakse kept their mouth shut over this dastardly army violation of civic rights of Tamil citizens’ free movement. The other para demilo from the North, Devananda who is charge of an important ministry too was the least concerned of the sad fate of the mothers of the future generations. In contrast on Wednesday when an unidentified bomb in the satellite town of Nugegoda killed three school children and fifteen sinhalese citizens the Sinhala politicians were all up in arms against the Tamils. The government alleged that the bomb was planted by LTTE. This conclusion was based not any identified findings but on previous trends of such bombing. Tamils sympathies were always with anybody who lost their lives prematurely under tragic circumstances. A condolence motion was also passed in the house of representative with fanfare and an announcement made by the Tyrannical president MR that all those injured and those who lost their lives in the Nugegoda bomb blast would be compensated for. A quick political move to placate the wrath of the sinhalese population against the government that found it a Herculean task to contain the LTTE. Accordingly, the Government yesterday Friday, 30 November 2007 paid Rs. 100,000 as compensation to each family of the deceased in Wednesday's Nugegoda bomb blast and Rs. 50,000 to each injured person. The response was swift indeed. It is pertinent to mention that some Tamils affected by last year’s Tsunami had still not received any financial or material help. Discrimination again on racial grounds. The unfavourable treatment of dead Tamils happened even before when 21 Black Tigers including 2 women were killed on 23 October in the devastating raid on Anuradhapura air port/base. The armed forces collected the dead bodies. They stripped the LTTE commando’s bodies, including the women, and paraded their mutilated naked corpses placed on trailers, normally used to collect garbage, for the Sinhala residents to see, in clear violation of Geneva convention. The first reaction of the government was to deny it. Military spokesman Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara’s response, as quoted by Reuter, was: “We are professional soldiers. We do not want to do things like that.” Then who did it? Dead men tell no tales. The Sinhalese vent their racial hatred on the dead bodies. Discrimination even to the dead. The UN and the IC were just standing by when a ‘supposedly’ democratic government was executing all these racist discriminatory actions. Still for all the IC and USA expected this racially motivated pack of Sinhalaese to deliver a political package that could meet the aspirations of the ethnic minority Tamils. They should have known by now the racist would not in anyway be fair to the minority unless there was some sort of financial and political pressure from the UN and IC. Look at the many previous abrogated peace/political pacts by the Sinhalese. They vouch for this assertion. Regardless of this despicable behaviour of his government Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapakse had vowed to "wipe out terrorists" amid fears of a return to all-out war with the Tamil Tiger rebels, according to CanWest News Service, of Thursday November 2007. Rajapakse also said to Japan's Asahi Shimbun paper ahead of a visit to Tokyo next month "We put pressure on the group to give up its arms and enter the political mainstream. Terrorists must be wiped out from the Earth”. As stated by Reuters news, in tune with his leader the poodle Prime Minister Wickremanayake had declared in the parliament on Thursday that Sri Lanka would continue to attack Tamil Tiger rebel positions until Tiger "terrorism" was completely defeated. They would continue air strikes until the terrorism was eradicated. This was a day after two separate explosions rocked the capital Colombo. The cowardly way of fighting the war. Sunday December 2, 2007 Journalist J.S. Tissainayagam of Sunday Times of December 2 detailed the unjustified unethical war of the GSL aptly as follows “Aerial bombardment of targets in areas held by the Tigers ever since the SLAF flew regular sorties from around April 2006 has killed, maimed and terrorised civilians. The security forces pursued their tactics of shock and awe to 'clear' areas under LTTE control by intensive aerial bombardment supplemented by deadly artillery barrages so as to shift civilian populations from where they resided, thereby creating massive IDP populations, disrupting livelihoods and destroying possessions. Of late, attacks in the Wanni have been supplemented by deep penetration units (DPUs) whose victims have invariably been civilian. Meanwhile, in areas of the North and East controlled by government, civilians are targeted individually and murdered, abducted and tortured. The government's tactic of causing terror is having a devastating impact in the Wanni with children especially displaying symptoms of grave psychological trauma due to air strikes. Teachers complain of schoolchildren panicking at the very sound of aircraft flying overhead. In government-controlled areas, the result of extra-judicial killings, disappearances and abduction allegedly by the military and paramilitary forces was seen in the eyes of the relatives of the victims of such crimes when they gathered to meet UN Human Rights Chief Louise Arbour while she was in the country”. There seems to be no respite from a government that is supposed to protect all citizens sinhalese, Tamils, Muslims and other races. The UN, IC, USA and all supposed democracies and communists watch this mass human tragedy pulseless blinking. Earlier, fifty conscientious Congressmen and women in a letter to US President as far back as Tuesday, 03 July 2007, urged him "to increase U.S. diplomatic engagement and high-level political contact in Sri Lanka to work toward achieving a lasting peace. USA highbrows never cared. The tragedy continues. Peter Apps of Reuters in London reported on Oct 10 that diplomats had warned Sri Lanka that it had become more isolated following criticism of its human rights record. This prompted verbal attacks by government officials on international aid and lobby groups. He also reported that rights groups said hundreds of mainly ethnic Tamils had disappeared, with killings of aid workers and journalists -- again mainly Tamil -- at some of the highest rates in the world. With this background journalist Shanie of The Island wrote on December 1, 2007 the reason behind the bomb attack in Nugegoda. “But, terror that used to stalk civilians in Colombo over ten years ago has now returned. With the escalation of the war, this was inevitable.
Over the course of this year, hundreds of non-combatant civilians have been killed – in Pesalai, in Allaipiddi, in Kebbitigollawa, in Pottuvil, in Trincomalee, in Muthur, in Gomarankadawela, and other places. In recent days, we have had indiscriminate killing of civilians in all parts of the country.------There were, no doubt, targeted killings and abductions, mainly of Tamils and Muslims. The victims also including some military and intelligence persons. Apart from the killings and abductions, Tamil civilians, particularly young people, faced harassment and some were remanded for no reason other than that of their ethnicity. Most of them were released in due course but only after undergoing a traumatic experience. The government is moving on the authoritarian lines of the J R Jayewardene regime, trying to eliminate dissent by violence. The JRJ regime caused the polarisation of the country on ethnic lines. It alienated the non-LTTE Tamils by word and action. The present government is tragically moving along the same lines. By going along with the agenda of the hardline Sinhala extreme nationalists, it is even alienating the eastern Muslims who feel threatened. Using the Karunas and the Pillayans in the East and the Devanandas in the North may bring short-term gains but in the long-term, we are going to end up as divided nation. None of them enjoy popular support among the Tamils or Muslims”. The Island paper, which had been always pro-government, questioned in desperation. “Is there nobody in our political leadership with a vision for the future of our country, where people of all faiths, of all ethnic groups and of all social classes can live with equal rights, with equal opportunities and with equal dignity? And is there nobody with the courage to say so?” The Island then went on an advisory role and warned the government. “The government must realise that the only way that the country can be pulled out of this mire is by negotiating with authentic Tamil and Muslim voices (who include the TNA but not the LTTE) and by rejecting the extremist Sinhala agenda”. Incidentally, Prabaharan was purported to have said that unless he gave the same medicine that the government sprayed on the Tamils they would not open their eyes. It seemed to be prophetic. In response to The Island suggestion not to include the LTTE in the peace process I would like to quote Hon. Bob Rae, chairman of the new organisation created in 1997 called the Forum of Federations. He said at the inaugural meeting of Canadians for Peace on Nov 30, 2007 that any peace deal should involve the LTTE. I quote with emphasis added in bold. “On the other hand, there are those people who think that we have to find a solution that does not involve the LTTE. To which I say, everything in my experience tells me, that as much as I disapprove or dislike the tactics that have been used of the LTTE, I do not believe we are going to find a solution that does not include them, because unless they are included in the solution, we will not find a basis for a solution. That has to be understood”. Another international figure of the same view was Verena GRAF of the International League for the Rights of Peoples (LIDLIP). LIDLIP had been engaged for almost three decades in international fora not least in the United Nations and especially in the Commission on Human Rights. She said “The international community, including many human rights organizations, favour the state. Thus, despite being signatory to the two 1966 Conventions on Human Rights and having ratified the 4th Geneva Convention, successive governments of Sri Lanka are responsible for collective punishment of the Tamils, of having indiscriminately bombed schools, refugee camps, and churches, of having blocked food and medical supplies to the population in the Northeast. The LTTE is criminalized as a terrorist organization, proscribed in several countries, whereas nobody accuses Sri Lanka of state terrorism. But enough talking of war and hardship, let us go for negotiations. We must push for negotiations and get the parties to the negotiation table. The international community must stand up for a just negotiated solution. While it is true that it is primarily up to the Sri Lankans to find a route to a just peace, the international community can not absolve itself of a certain responsibility for the deterioration of the situation, even systemic impasse”. According to media Asian Age of Friday 30 November India and the European Union (EU) had said that there was no military solution to the conflict in Sri Lanka. "A negotiated, political settlement, acceptable to all communities within the framework of a united Sri Lanka, is the goal that all international efforts should encourage. A credible devolution package would be a major contribution to this end." Describing the eighth EU-India Summit as "an essay in mutual comprehension", Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said that New Delhi gave its perspective on developments in South Asia. IANS of 30 November in Colombo reported that the US had called for a political end to Sri Lanka's lingering conflict, saying there never can be a military solution. Mr. Keith Vaz who along with Mr Hughes headed the All Party UK Parliamentary Group for Tamils called on the Sri-Lankan Sinhala government for a negotiated solution and warned if the Sri Lankan government continued the war, separation would become inevitable. "I can totally understand the demand of some Tamils for an independent state. These calls will only get louder and louder unless there is just peace," he said. Heedless MR went on his wild goose chase of ethnic cleansing. Jayashika Padmasiri of The Nation on Sunday, 2 December 2007, wrote that more than 800 Tamils were arrested on suspicion in Colombo since Friday. This was during combined search operations launched by the security forces and Police, following Wednesday’s bomb blasts at Colombo 5 and Nugegoda. Those arrested were from Maradana, Pettah, Grand Pass, Kotahena, Dehiwala, Pelawatte, Mirihana and Mount Lavinia Police Stations areas. They had been transported to what is the Belsen camp of Sri-Lanka-Boosa camp. Still the entire world was mute. Most of those arrested were Tamils of Indian origin and mother India too remained inactive. This shows that MR is also xenophobic. Had Indira Gandhi who loved Sri-lankan Tamils was alive today she would have stopped all these atrocities by the wave of her index finger. Sheiks were well known for taking revenge. The Sheik who murdered her would be laughing from wherever he haunts at the present plight of the Sri-Lankan Tamils without Indira Ghandhi to help them. It had become evident that MR government was on a path of vengeance and ethnic cleansing. He had lost the sense of balance. He forgot his religious leader Buddha’s philosophy. The Dhammapada declares that “Hatred is never appeased by Hatred in this world. It is appeased by love This is an eternal law”. The Tamils would as the Dhammapada said would always remember atrocities and injustices done to them by the Sinhalese; “ He abused me, he beat me, he defeated me, he robbed me: the hatred of those who harbour such thoughts is not appeased”-Dhammapada. As seen in the above paragraphs Tamils were being discriminated and ill-treated anywhere and every where in Sri-Lanka. Therefore as the Dammapada again said “ Oneself is one’s own protector (refuge); What other protector (refuge) can there be? With oneself fully controlled, one obtains a protection (refuge) which is hard to gain”. Tamils could apply this truth to their state. Will self-rule in the North and East be the panacea? It was for the conscientious community of the world to decide. Set as favorite Bookmark Comments (6)

| True,Nazism kies with Pirpiharan and LTTE, not with GOSL. By Pirpaharan's order, LTTE evicted and killed all the Moores and Sinhalese living in North. That is an act of Nazism, not trying to arrest the next suicide bomber waiting to destroy Sr Lanka. |
|
Dr. Thiagarajah, These school girls were kill by your people not SLA, this was reveal by the Mr. Sangree, since you are so educated man and think wise way and determine the real murders like LTTE. |
| Please tell me a name of a single sihala family live in north?. How many lived betore 1980s. 54% of tamils live in south. Its obvious to the whole world who did the ethnic cleaning and who's doing the ethnic cleaning. so you cannot cheat the others like past. people know what happened and what's happening. |

All parties to the conflict are Nazis. Learn from your mistakes. From the bottom of your heart, apologise to our Muslim Bretren whom you evicted from Jaffna. Moral behaviour should be measured by the same yard stick. Some one who over glorifies an individual demeans himself/herself. We have lost everything through our tactless and inhumane behaviour. Karuna and the Rajapakse brothers are simply following your behaviour except they are yet to kill another Rajiv. |
| I am a refugee in UK, my family is in a refugee camp in South India, our house and our land is occupied by Sinhalese Forces because it is in the HSZ. When Jaffna peninsula was under the control of LTTE, there was more freedom; a woman can go alone in the midnight without any fear, now all women will not go out in the day time. UK is called as a democratic country but a woman cannot go alone in the midnight without any fear. LTTE is safe guard of Tamils, they are not terrorist and they are not aliens. If LTTE is not there, there were no Tamils in North and East, all were wiped out by Sinhalese Governments. Can any Sinhalese say they bought any land in North and East? they were all colonised by D.S.Senanayke ( Late PM) but our Tamils living south they spent their own money and bought the lands. Please let us live alone with peace and harmony in our own land (North and East) and stop the genocide campaigns. |
| Mahinda Rajapakse (King's servant) is not only a Nazi but also an idiot who is destroying the beautifull North and East, the Tamil home land. Rajapakse is also ruining the Sinhala state by spending tax payers money in millions of dollars. Very soon the sinhala mixed race would realize the truth. But this time it would be too late. Viva Tamil Eeelam. |
