Sri Lankan former cricket captain and UPFA Parliamentarian, Arjuna Ranatunga, has had an exclusive discussion with UNP Leader Ranil Wickremasinghe on Tuesday evening, according to reliable sources. Sources said their talks mainly concentrated on the stance Mr. Arjuna Ranataunga would take at the vote of the third reading of the budget.
Mr. Ranatunga, one of the four Parliamentarians in the government without any ministerial portfolio, has had discussion with President Mahinda Rajapakse who assured him of making chairman of the Cricket Board.
Sources said even incumbent Chairman of the Cricket Board has also expressed his willingness to resign with a view to solving the crisis within the government party but the President is learnt to have changed his decision that angered the cricket star.
