Sri Lanka: Ranil's helicopter emergency-landed at Mahiyangaya

The helicopter in which Opposition Leader Ranil Wickramasinghe was returning to Colombo from Eastern Provincial Council election campaigning in Batticaloa was emergency-landed a due to a technical fault last evening (05) at Mahiyanganaya esplanade.
The helicopter belongs to Sri Lanka Air Force.
Mr. Wickramasinghe went to Mahiyanganaya police station after the helicopter was landed. An official of the Mahiyanganaya police station said that he did not know the reason for the emergency landing.
UNP earlier announced that the government did not permit to obtain a helicopter for Mr. Wickramasinghe for the travelling purposes of Eastern Provincial Council election campaigns.
