Twenty nine year-old Tamil youth Balasingham Balamohan was abducted by unidentified persons from his house Monday night in Ve'ppankulam in Vavuniyaa, according to complaints lodged with the Vavuniyaa police by his relatives.

A group of six armed men had arrived in a vehicle and took the youth by force from his house, relatives further stated in their complaints.

The matter has been reported to the regional office of the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka and the International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC).

Vavuniyaa police said they have begun inquiry into the alleged abduction.
