A Tamil woman was killed and her husband sustained serious injuries when unidentified persons fired at them when they were in their house in Kanniyaa village in Uppuve'li police division, Trincomalee Wednesday night.

Both were first admitted to the Trincomalee general hospital with gunshot injuries. But the woman succumbed to injuries on admission to the hospital and her body is lying in the mortuary for postmortem and identification, police sources said.
