Rajasingham Jeyadevan, popularly known as Undiyalaan (working with Sri Lankan government) and his new found buddies held a meeting with some British officials at a back room in the Houses of Parliament on Monday. Undiyalaan, so called because of his role in the theft of around £ 300, 000 from the Money Box at a Hindu temple is the President of the Tamil Democratic Congress (TDC), which has a membership of less than 100 individuals, sources said.
Although the meeting was titled ‘Human Rights in Sri Lanka’ much of it had focused on the Nitharsanam.com website which continues to be a major headache for Undiyalaan and others alike, sources added.
Nitharsanam.com, is a leading Tamil language news website which attracts several thousand readers a day, with its up to date honest reporting.
The site is known to publish articles that are critical of groups and personalities whome others fearing for their lives would not dare to criticise.
As such the above mentioned website had more than once been at odds with Undiyalaan and other Tamil cons involved in exploiting the Tamil community.
Reliable sources report that Undiyalaan and his team had requested the British government to take measures to ban the particular website. They had alleged that the particular website was a threat to them, sources said.
Kugan a reader of Nitharsanam.com said that ‘the only threat the website posed was for these cronies illegal income’. ‘The website should continue to expose all such people, unhindered by any threats,’ added Sujatha, another one of the 1000s of readers Nitharsanam.com attracts everyday.
Meanwhile, in response to the allegations levelled against it, an article on the Nitharsanam.com website said that Jeyadevan has a personal vendetta against the website, because it exposed several misuse of funds at the Elapetheswara Hindu Temple when he was Chairman of the particular temple.
Nitharsanam.com also challenged Jeyadevan to prove the articles on the site to be wrong by publishing all the account details of the temple.
Furthermore the website added that it would not exempt individuals or groups who claim to be ‘democratic’ or ‘peaceful’ when reporting on issues that matter to the Tamil people. ‘Anyone who partakes in criminal activities would be exposed and only those involved in illegal activities would feel threatened by the website.’
