<description>The gun culture in the country has all along been the hall mark of the Sri Lankan governments. Peace, harmony, development and welfare of the people had never been in their agendas. Where in the sixty years of gaining independence, had Sri Lanka practiced a just and fair system among the people in the country. It is always intimidation and violence, denial of rights and hoodwinking propagandas. The killings of human beings have become a normal event. All we know and hear in Sri Lanka is violence, kidnappings, abductions, intimidation, killings, rape and in almost all cases the government has a hand and its armed forces are committing such acts. When the international committee and the aid donors raise concerns, the government will say they have initiated a Presidential Commission of Inquiry to look into the violations but nothing good comes out of it.
The Sri Lankan minister of Foreign Affairs Bogollagama attending the 50th Anniversary celebrations of Malaysia’s Independence would be shocked to find how people of many races are able to live in harmony and have achieved progress in their lives. Among the people celebrating the cause are also the Sri Lankan Tamils and Singhalese who have made great strides contributing to the development of Malaysia and enhancing their personal lives, something the Sri Lankan government deprived the Tamils living in Sri Lanka.
