SSP’s wife goes into hiding
The wife of Vass Gunawardena, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), has gone into hiding since the incident of assault of an IT student Nipuna Ramanayake took place on Tuesday evening, according to police officials who have been ordered to arrest her.
A special police team headed by SP Neil Hettiarachchi is investigating the incident. But the team has failed to arrest SSP’s wife so far as she has gone into hiding and her whereabouts are unknown.
Allow women, children, old persons to leave IDP camps – UNP
The United National Party (UNP) has called on the government to allow around 175,000 women, children and old people, forcibly detained in northern refugee camps, to live with their relatives either in Sri Lanka or abroad.
Addressing a press conference in Colombo yesterday the head of the UNP Media Unit, Lakshman Kirielle MP, said that the government is violating the basic human rights of the IDPs by preventing them from escaping the appalling conditions in the camps.
EPC Chief Minister, ministers write to President demanding removal of Governor
Eastern Provincial Council (EPC) Chief Minister Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan and four other provincial ministers are learnt to have sent a petition to President Mahinda Rajapakse demanding the removal of Governor Mohan Wijewickrema immediately, according to sources in EPC.
Duo on 9 day 300km walk from Sydney reach Canberra
Seran Sribalan and Vishna Sivaraj have arrived in Canberra on the 9th day of their 300km walk from Sydney to Canberra. The duo wish to raise awareness of the plight of 300,000 Tamil civilians being forcibly detained in military controlled internment camps in the island of Sri Lanka.
The final leg of their walk will comprise of an awareness campaign today at 9AM at Garema Place, Canberra City, where speeches will be delivered by the pair.
Law and order destroyed in the country – Anurakumara Tissanayake
JVP Parliament Member Anurakumara Tissanayake stated, law and order is completely destroyed in the country. He said accusations are against the Police in regard to the assault incident of a student attached to the Malabe Information Technology Institute and brutal murders of Angulana youth.

Culpabale War Criminal Dr Palitha Kohona, named as Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka to the United Nations
Dr Palitha Kohona, an Australian citizen and Sri Lanka’s Foreign Secretary has now assumed duties as the Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka to the United Nations, New York. This new appointment follows the retirement of M.G.S. Palihakkara due to personal reasons. The appointment is no surprise as Kohana played a strong hand in the recent 2009 blood-bath in Sri Lankan and is a close advisor to war savy Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
Special action processed to arrest Liberation tigers’ foreign agents
Senior Defense Officer stated, action had been processed to arrest the foreign agents of Tamil Eelam Liberation tigers. Such action had been taken after the information obtained from Kumaran Pathmanathan who was arrested by Defense sector and at present is under interrogation. Special action had been processed to arrest the new leader of the Tiger movement who is named Sivabalan alias Nediyawan including 20 persons.
LTTE had planned to use nuclear weapons
Investigation reveal, the Tamil Eelam Liberation tigers, had obtained the International rebels assistance to acquire automatic power and nuclear weapons.
