There is no reason for the Tamils in India to go for a separate country - everything in India is properly handled and majority of Indians are Hindus and Christians, who are the real peace-lovers. On the other hand, all sort of atrocities have been committed against the innocent Tamil Hindus and Christians in Ceylon. State-sponsored riots/pogroms, wild discrimination in Education and Employment, Ethnic Cleansing activities, burning down of our tresures such as the biggest library in SE Asia, bombardment of places of Worships, aerial bombing and shelling on civilian targets. If Israel could regain her sovereignty after thousands of years without it, the Tamils of Eelam will easily regain their sovereignty after only 500 years without it. It will happen!! |

However, I have the moral duty to protect my people when they are subject to all sort of atrocities. DO you know, why I lost my inncoent uncle in Tamil Eelam, and why my left-hand was badly-butchered by a sinhala thug in kirilapone of colombo in late 1990s. The same sort of terror is unleashed against every innocent Tamils of Ceylon. We suffered quite a lot in terms of human-lives, wealth, Eduacation/Employment and more importantly Tamils of sri lanka lacks freedom (Please note, I used the term sri lanka, as it does not include TAMIL EELAM). You can't understand these unless you are born as Tamil in Ceylon. I believe in AHIMSA, but also believe that AHIMSA cannot be used against the evil. Hence, we want to have our right of self-determination back through armed struggle. I mentioned in these columns a number of times as to why innocent Tamil people opted for this armed-struggle, although they initially practised AHIMSA principle (please follow other threads for my explanations). The solution to the problem is simple: the ocupational forces have to move out of Tamil Eelam peacefully ASAP, so that TAMILs can put an end to their FREEDOM STRUGGLE. You have to understand that by fighting Tamils do not infringe the freedom enjoyed by sinhalese. But, I want our people to enjoy the same freedom. It is possible only in our independent state. Hence, it is you who have to make the first move, ie: immediately withdraw your occupational forces. OTherwise, we will continue our struggle, as FREEDOM is much more important than our lives. BTW, if you speak properly, then I will behave properly, as all Tamils are courteous. But, if you bark, then I have to speak the only language that you can understand, I am afraid. |

While you're talking about post-independence Israel, my comparison related to pre-independence Israel & Eelam. Both are indeed similar in the sufferings & hardships being experienced in their journey to freedom. Both the Tamils and the Jews had a prosperous & well-established diaspora. Commercial Jewish successes invited historic jealousy and considerable anti-Semitic persecution for many centuries in the same way Tamil successes and innovation invited Sinhala oppression for 6 decades. Pre-independence Israel had a number of freedom fighting groups including the Hagannah, Palmach and the extremist Stern gang and Irgun while pre-independence Eelam has a single LTTE (which should therefore enjoy more united success in gaining independence). I oppose what Israel has done in the past 40 years after they gained their independence. Israel has unfortunately created more problems in the Middle East and also in Sri Lanka by doing the USA's dirty work for them!! Many of Israel's policies are blatantly racist and worse than the colonial oppressors they replaced. I hope this suffices for now. Limited time constrains me from writing more. Tamil Eelam need not be racist after independence - this is where it would be so good if Bala Annai would still be around to ensure a future Eelam did not proceed down the same path that Israel has gone. One huge difference between the pre-independence Jews & Tamils is that the Jews were at least united despite their differences with each other. The reason two people are fighting for the past 25/45 years or so is because they are not talking or even listning to each other. So to get these people(both peace loving according to them)to listen and talk to each other, it takes some real effort. Why not start somewhere without any pre conditions on each other. You do not have to be a rocket scientist to find this out. There are solutions if you really want to end a strife. One can only only destroy each other the way it is going now. Truly some of the best people on earth. Who continue to kill each other in horrible ways. Both sides commit horrible attrocities. Both sides are now complicit in abducting children (I've seen the STF aiding Karuna). Each side feels they are fighting righteously, defending the homeland, etc. In this case, neither side will ever give. A continued war will lead further into this viscious circle. At the end of the day, you are fighting your way toward control of a new Somalia. Soon the rest of the world will be fed up with a country who bombs itself with jet planes, who sends its children from school to die in battle. Foreign investment will cease, you will be left to fight it out like the warlords in Somalia, each fighting for your little bit of turf. Alternatively, if you can each learn to forgive; if you can each approacch the table really trying for peace, listening to the other side, you will see that both sides have valid points. It will not be easy, but listening and forgiving is the first step to peace. Sri Lanka could be a great example to the rest of the world. We sure need it. Look at USA, Isreal - behaving like petulant children, allowing themselves to be brought down to the lowest denominator. Sri Lanka is a spoiled child right now. Stealing money from Tsunami, and blaming those who brought the money. Siphoning these funds for your dirty war, blame the foreigners again. It doesn't have to be this way. But continued aggresion on both sides will not ever lead to peace. On the gov't side, this is all about money. These bloody buggers are making a 35% commision on all arms sales. They must keep the war going to keep the money coming. You are all letting yourselves be duped that this is about some cause. It is about people making huge profits. Until 1983 there have been many anti-Tamil pograms that killed thousands of innocent Tamils and destroyed billions of rupees worth of property. Indian Tamils are enjoying a greater freedom than their counterparts in EELAM. Indian Tamils are happy to be part of India. The diaspora Tamils are doing all they can to support their struggle in EELAM because they help in the promotion of our struggles in the foreign countries which is very important. Without much diaspora the world won't listen to Tamils demants since we are very small in number and no body gives a damn thing about the shitty lanka in foreign countries. First of all, any peace lovers should understand and accept only one thing, the so called LTTE, who fought for a separate home land for over two decades, on the request of the international community, they set a side all differences and came to a negotiating table to discuss the issues under a unitary state. This is a fact. They did so because to show the International community that they too have interest and believe in negotiated settlement. Dear friends, Whom to be appreciated? It s understood by all of us that we r doing last war with the Ceylon Govt. with our full force by using our air and ground forces. But I feel that the SL govt. is making a point to the outside world that, we will not take a ravage for those attacks with our full force bcoz. If they do so all of the vanni Tamils will be killed for carpet booms with no time. It means they r preparing the world to support them. But we r not doing so.
